With Melbourne’s population predicted to double by 2050, Frankston has been identified as a key Metropolitan Activity Centre to support commercial and residential growth.
This means the Frankston City Council has a golden opportunity to create a thriving hub of employment, investment and entertainment. The Frankston Metropolitan Activity Centre (FMAC) Structure Plan sets out a framework to guide development within the FMAC over the next 20 years and focuses on achieving the following key priorities for the renewal and revitalisation of the FMAC.
The Neighbourlytics platform has been utilised by the Frankston City Council to provide valuable lifestyle and behavioural data to private investors to assist in attracting the types of development they want to encourage for significant economic, social, and environmental benefits for the community.
Neighbourlytics data insights have also informed decision making on the following key priorities:
- Enliven streets connecting the station to the foreshore with the creation of a vibrant alfresco hospitality precinct.
- Improve pedestrian and off road cycling linkages throughout the FMAC and connect sites including Monash University, Chisholm Institute, Frankston Hospital, Frankston beach and foreshore and the George Pentland Botanic Gardens.
- Attract more service sector businesses and government departments to Frankston with good quality office space.
- Strengthen and consolidate health and education uses in the FMAC within identified precincts and improve links to these uses from adjacent areas.
- Promote Frankston as a tourism destination by providing events infrastructure, enhancing the foreshore and increasing opportunities for diverse accommodation options.
- Advance economic development and employment growth within the FMAC by strengthening the role and function of each precinct.
